Great atmosphere, and large venue, but the food was very disappointing. A table of 4, we all tried each others meals and appetizers. Nothing stood out as good. It wasn't horrible, but it all had the same flavor. Decent quantity, but not quality in the food. Will not revisit again.
We had a party of 10 including 2 children. Majority of us ordered the crab-fest. Of the about a bushel of crabs we all polished off over a period of 2 hours, we had maybe 4 of them that were "less than ideal". The rest were heavy and very fresh. Corn was amazing, but also probably a result of the season.
Can't believe a Maryland restaurant serves such unseasoned crabs!!
Tried to eat at Hooper's tonight, got there right at 4:00, got seated with menus right away and waited.... and waited.... and waited. After the hostess seated us we waited over 20 minutes without one server asking for our drink order. This may not have been as big of a deal, had there been a packed house; however, seeing as how there was only a handful of tables occupied at that time, and a plethora of waitstaff we found this unacceptable and walked out. The table of 10 or so that walked in about a minute before us all got drinks and their dinner orders taken before we even got an acknowledgment from any waitstaff at all. We also watched probably 3 or 4 tables that came in after us get drinks and dinner orders taken before us as well. We were only a table of 6, we weren't some huge party that would have been difficult or time consuming to take a drink order. Had even one server let us know someone would have been with us, it may have changed our minds, but to be completely ignored by everyone in the place for over 20 minutes is absurd. So we headed 3 minutes down the road to Crab Alley, got seated right away, drink and dinner order taken within 5-10 minutes and had an excellent meal there, with great service!
Ambiance was great! Great view of Ocean City! Drinks were good! Water was awful! This place is not where you want to for crabs! If you love Maryland old bay seasoning on your crabs you will not find it here. They almost looked boiled. Sorry folks!
Our waiter was awesome, especially for our party which seemed to need a refill on something every 5 minutes.
It's a tradition to go to hoppers first night in town. The food and service are always great. I have never had any issues with the food. It can be busy at times just be paitient it's worth the wait. They also have a lobster crane machine for 3.00 a try to catch a lobster and they will cook it for you.
