went on the banana boat today and it was awesome. Capt Roger and his mate JT were very helpful and made sure we fell off. i didn't think i was going to fall off even tho they told us it was bound to happen. that only made our experience so much better! i had 3 kids with me ages 5-10 years old. They had more fun than i did. there were 12 people total in the group that we went with and there was ample room on the over sized raft that can hold 16.. we weren't crowded at all. we will definitely be back again!! fun for all ages... but not if you're scared of the ocean.
Don't waste your money! This place and their customer service is horrible. We had a group of 8 and another family of five joined our group for the banana boat ride even though only 12 people are allowed on the boat at once. We were told the captain was busy making repairs and didn't have time to do two trips so they had to combine us. There were small children in this group so at no point should there have been any speed or roughness. We weren't given any instructions as far as which way to lean or not to lean. We all climbed on the banana boat and within 15 seconds Roger took off and had flipped all but one person off. My husband was furious and had every right to be. There was no reason for Roger to do what he did. As I'm floating in the ocean holding on to my son, and trying to collect the other children, Roger is In the boat arguing instead of helping everyone. Roger told my husband and my nephew that he was going to leave them in the ocean and make them swim back. One man floated so far away that the first mate had to jump in and rescue him. Only a few people got back on after that, most were too scared. Five out of the 8 people in our group did not get back on and when we got back to land we were yelled at by the staff and told we would not get any sort of refund. Roger was very unprofessional and a total jerk, however I believe the first mates name was Jake, he was nice and tried to help us. It was a horrible experience, please do not entrust your families safety with this company. I have been banana boating before at different beaches and it was always a fun experience, this was a nightmare.
I would never go with this company again! I was assured that the three young boys I was taking would be safe. The captain did nothing to be sure that any of us were safe. I was so scared I got back onto the boat after being thrown off the banana within the first two minutes. We asked that he be careful since we had kids he was anything but careful!! He also had to stop our ride 1/2 way through because his power steering was going out and he needed someone to bring oil to him. The person threw the oil without a lid covering the boat with oil. He had to retrieve it twice from the ocean before making the third toss onto the boat. We were not safe!! Do not use this company and do not take children!! These people are a dangerous joke!!
Me and my friends all went on the banana boat and it was literally so scary but so fun. Don't do this if you're a wimp or don't like extreme things because it's kinda crazy. Jake and Roger were great and a lot of fun. But seriously one of the coolest things ever.
The banana boat was honestly the worst experience my family and I have had so far. Let me just say that Nick was beyond helpful (like when he dove in the water to help a lady back on). But Roger, aside from the smoking and alcohol references, wasn't willing to let my 15 year old sister back on because "it would ruin the experience for everyone, man." Also, should the goal be to try your hardest to make sure everyone goes flying into the Atlantic? Swimming to the banana boat and pulling yourself up is hard, and not letting a child back on the regular boat to rest? People tried to ask questions, but Roger dismissed them because he was preoccupied. The experience was anything but safe, fun, or one that will ever be done again. It takes a lot for me to complain, but it's that bad.
