I normally don't leave comments simply due to the fact that I usually stay at the same hotel. However, this was a spur of the moment trip so we had to just take our chances. I was super surprised when we stopped at the Crystal Sands motel. They had no vacancies when my fiancé went in to check but the lady told him to wait a little while she thought she may have a cancellation. Twenty minutes later he came out with a key to a room. We got up to the room and we were so impressed. It was the cleanest room we had ever seen. The beds and linens were so comfortable! Big soft fluffy towels in the bathroom. Considering we had no reservations, the office staff went out of their way to help us, the room was wonderful, and the rates, especially for being at the height of the season, were very reasonable. I am not one to complain or post reviews anywhere, but I have never experienced this amount of disrespect or pure unprofessionalism before and believe this needs to be heard. I would never recommend this motel to anyone. I have been going to Ocean City for years and have never had any problem booking anywhere until yesterday. I booked a King bed room with Crystal Sands last week through their website and received a confirmation email either that day or the following. The money had already been deducted from my account. I received a voicemail yesterday from Jennifer at Crystal Sands stating that the room I booked was not available and I needed to give her a call, she was not very kind in her message. I called once I was on break at work, she said the only room she had available was a double bed. I told her I would take that room but being that is not what I wanted, nor what I paid for, I asked if she could accommodate me for my inconvenience in any way and possibly give me partial off of the room. She was the rudest woman I have ever come in contact with. She got an attitude with me and was very nasty, telling me she had people in front of her and would call me back, then hung up on me while I was in the middle of speaking. She never called me back. I was highly upset about being spoken to the way she did so I told my stepmother about what happened. She called her and was treated the same way. Jennifer cursed at her and told her that she sleeps with the owner (meaning she can do as she pleases), which was way out of line. I decided to call her back once more once I got out of work to try and smooth things over, even though I didn’t really want this motel to have my money any longer, I knew there was no way I’d find anywhere else at this point in time. When Jennifer answered, she told me she spoke with my mother and it did not go well so she decided not to rent to me. She said she would refund me my money by the end of the day so she could be “done with it. “ She also said she tried to sell me the last room she had, and I told her I did want that room, I was just trying to see if there was any way to get partial money taken off of it, but it was fine if I couldn’t. I also told her that I looked on her website and saw there were still rooms available, so I would still like to rent a room if the website was correct. She told me she wasn’t sure if there really was anything available and she would call me back in 30 minutes. At that point, she did not call me back for a second time. A close friend of mine has just passed away and I was just really looking forward to getting a way to clear my head for the weekend. I apologize for this long review, but I strongly feel my story needed to be heard. I work in customer service as well and I would never even think about speaking to someone in the amount of disrespect she spoke to my stepmother and I. This situation has really upset me and I will be taken it to further measures which is something I have never had to do before.
We got hit with a classic bait and switch. We made a reservation and paid in full for a room with a King size bed, but got a room with double beds. After bringing it to their attention, we got the run-around. Said they had no more King beds available. I asked for a discount, and they said the room was already less than what they'd normally rent a double for, etc etc etc. They get a two star rating instead of one star only because the room was clean and quiet. I'll never give this place my business again because of their dishonest and transparent bait and switch tactics.
The rooms are a little dated however they are clean and the beds are comfortable. Parking is a little bit inconvenient. You may either park right by the motel, or you may have to park about a block-and-a-half away. It depends upon your parking pass. It's a short walk if you have to park a block-and-a-half away. The service people are very friendly. The hotel is reasonably quiet. There is no access to a pool. The rates are reasonable. I would recommend this Motel to my friends.
I would give this hotel zero stars. We were guaranteed a room on 1st floor got there was told no rooms available in 1st floor. Lugged all of our stuff to 3rd floor only to see room not cleaned then all of a sudden room was available on 1st floor. But a bag full of my daughter's expensive shoes were left in the room move confusion. When office was asked they only had one pair of the shoes. But miraculously the next morning when cleaning staff came in the shoes appeared in the original bag and you clearly could see where the one pair was ripped out of the bag. Our floor in our room was so dirty our feet were black if you walked on the floor. Musty order the whole time. Was a terrible place to stay. Don't trust the office and cleaning people with your belongings.
